Get-togethers and getaways

I left off at July the last time I blogged in retrospect. I think I owe it to my blog to update it once in a while, so here’s looking back to August, September and October in photo collages. I’m starting to love this once-in-a-couple-of-months bulk blogging, though. Haha.

August: dear youngest sister’s 18th birthday dinner at Sunburst

September: after-exam dinner with classmates at Iliganon (photos from Joyce)

September: Dee and Greggy’s wedding at St. Ignatius de Loyola Chapel, Patag and reception N Hotel (photos from Coi and Dee)

October: tapok with stat classmates (photos from Diane)

Halo-halo get-togethers: Coffee at Aruma with Sam, Fiah and Dee | Sundaes at Ice Castle with Fiah | Sun-date at Thai Me Up | Bo’s Coffee with B and A | Pizzarella with B and A | Aruma with Ate Karl and Ate Sweeky | Late lunch at Vienna Kaffeehaus with B, M and A

As for November, it was off to a fun start with a weekend getaway with the barkada to Jasaan.

Here’s to hoping the rest of November will be just as fun. 🙂

In Retrospect

More than an attempt at updating my blog, I think I need this to remind me of happy days before the midterm stress monster gobbles me up.

Constitutional Week

As usual, I was at the helm of prettifying our tent and that included waking up real early, showing up at the Children’s Park first and even helping putting up the tent. I didn’t play ‘varsity’ (haha) mixed volleyball like last year although this year’s tug of war was much more fun. We won over the sophies, the juniors and the super seniors but lost out to the freshies. Haha.

Tug of War!

Happily showing off our class shirt.

After Consti Week comes Purplehood. As 4th years, we had to organize the event especially held for the ‘super seniors’ or the 5th years. As if heading the ‘tent committee’ wasn’t enough, I was again placed in control to head the steering committee. What followed was a month of stressful, crazy, busy planning but well worth all the effort in the end.

Another Meson Bonding

Another Meson wedding (the batch’s baby, Licka) which means another happy get-together with high school classmates.

Tatay’s Birthday

We got to celebrate Tatay’s birthday, albeit, belated in Missy’s pretty little house (not on the Prairie, haha) at Portico in Gran Europa, CDO.

Bee and Ashy made it there too. 🙂

Hello, Shoti

Atsi na si Shobe!

Davao Wedding Weekend

The fam (minus Potch) went on a road trip to Davao for my cousin’s wedding — the first in Tatay’s side of the family. Plus got to hang out with Bee and Bong at Damosa, which was just across our hotel, and we got a tour of the Freedom Park and some chika and laughter over some beers at MTS.

Happy Birthday!

Celebrated my 29th birthday just the way I like it – dinner with the fam at my favorite restaurant in Iligan, good ol’ Sunburst. OMG, 29!

Thank you Lord for another year.

Oh, and another thing about July, I started running and discovered Rock My Run.

They have killer running mixes which keep me going during my run days, three times a week. Fast forward to August, I rocked my first 5K run!

6th place for female open category. Yay!

Al ♥ Raico

I’ll try to tackle one blogging backlog at a time. Like anyone cares. Hah. But humor me. I’ve missed blogging and I’m taking baby steps again at this frequent blog updating thing because as you might have (or have not) noticed we kind of have an on-off relationship — like a love affair I can’t keep up with. Haha.

Speaking of love, it seemed to ease its way in before love month even began what with my high school classmates’ wedding just this weekend. Al and Raico got married in a fancy Muslim wedding at the Marawi Resort Hotel (Ayala) on Sunday, January 29. It was also the perfect occasion for a grand get-together with high school classmates, some of whom I haven’t seen in a long time. The weekend was all about fun, laughter, more fun, food,  more laughter, more food, photos, photos, photos and love, love, love! Great way to end the month and welcome the month of hearts.

Here are some of the photos I grabbed from B, K, Jun and Wing’s Facebook albums.

EDIT — loaded with more photos from S‘ Facebook album.

Too late for roses

We women have to stick together. Well, not too close together, or some fabulous single guy might think we’re not into men.

Goes a quote from some scrapbook sticker my best friend and I picked at the mall yesterday for our planner. It’s funny because it has become a yearly thing for my best girl friends and I to get together for some post-valentines day single girls night out where we enjoy great food, drinks and lots of girl talk and celebrate independence, freedom and being carefree.

B and A’s busy schedules wonderfully freed up allowing us to get together at CDO last night. We were also joined by three more fabulously single girl friends, Ate Di, Ai and Ate Mats, who all happened to be in CDO too, for dinner. So what followed was a fun single girls slash blog/twitter buddies reunion dinner at Siam, enjoying great Thai food, laughter, girl talk and snapshot moments. Fun times, fun times.

After dinner, we split up and the three of us, B, A and I headed to Cafe Macumba for some drinks and live band music. It felt like high school all over again when the bands played our favorite 90’s music. We were like our giddy high school selves, singing along to songs we knew by heart. More girl talk, more laughter.

We changed our minds about checking out a bar after we couldn’t get a proper parking space so we decided to cap off our night out with a midnight caffeine fix at Coffeeworks instead, which was a better idea because when we got there, the branch at Divisoria wasn’t packed and we got to have the place all to ourselves before the caffeine-seekers came trickling in. B loves their frappes while A and I went for their tall hot yummy concoctions.

Heading back to B’s pad, we decided to have a movie marathon but we all fell asleep before the first movie, Tangled, was over which goes to show we’re not cut out for staying up until the wee, wee morning hours anymore, haha!

We enjoyed Sunday brunch at Pancake House and had our very filling share of their yummy pancakes, waffles and the best tacos in town.

After getting our food fix, it was time for errands, a.k.a. our little shopping fix where we ended up splurging on stuff we weren’t really supposed to get but did anyway because we are each other’s biggest shopping supporters. Haha.

So goes our usual weekend get together. Time flies when you’re having fun and before you know it, it’s back to the daily grind as another busy work/school week begins.

And I wonder when the next weekend getaway will be.

Day 4 – Your favorite photograph of your best friend

Singling out a favorite photo of my best friend is no easy challenge since I don’t have just one best friend, but 6 BFFs I’ve shared the best friendship with since high school, 2 sisters slash best friends who I love to bits and 1 childhood best friend who I’ll always share a special bond with despite distance. Plus I’ve got tons of cherished photos to choose from!

But a challenge is a challenge. Here’s the cream of my photo crop, taken by one of the BFFs, B:
